Houselift, by Clear Morning Labs LLC · Last updated October 15, 2026
This policy explains what information Houselift (the app and the website it runs on) keeps, why, who processes it for us, who can see it, how long it's kept, and how to delete it. Houselift is made by Clear Morning Labs LLC, a Florida company ("we", "us"). Questions: mark@clearmorninglabs.com.
The short version
- We keep what you put into Houselift so you can find it later, and a few usage counts so we can tell whether it's useful.
- No ads. We don't sell your information or use it to track you across other apps or websites.
- Photos you choose to have read are sent to a third-party AI service to read them, only after you agree, and are not used to train AI.
- You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
What we keep
- Your account: email address, the name you choose, and your password (stored only in scrambled form by our sign-in provider; we never see it).
- What you add: properties (name, and an address if you enter one), rooms, items and their details and notes, photos of labels and items, property photos, quotes, invoices, receipts and warranties (including amounts and document photos), and the "pros" you save (the people who work on your home: name, company, trade, phone, email and notes you enter about them).
- Sharing within Houselift: who belongs to your household and their role, single-property access you give, and invitations (the invited email address and when it was sent, used, cancelled or expired).
- Usage counts: which days you open Houselift; searches (including the words searched and how many results came back); how often you copy or share an item; how often you tap Call, Text or Email for a pro (the number of taps only, never which pro or number); and for each photo read, when it happened, how long it took, which AI model answered and what it cost. These are summarised in the app under "What Houselift measures".
We don't use advertising identifiers, and we don't collect your location, contacts list or browsing history.
Reading photos with AI
When you photograph a label or a document and ask Houselift to read it, that photo and our reading instructions are sent to Anthropic, PBC (the Claude AI), through its commercial service. Nothing is sent before you agree on the "Before your first photo" screen, and you can always add things by hand instead.
- Anthropic's commercial terms don't allow it to train its AI on what we send.
- Anthropic deletes what we send, and its answers, within 30 days. It may keep them longer only if they're flagged as breaking its usage policies (up to 2 years) or where the law requires.
- Everything read is shown to you to check, and nothing is saved until you confirm.
Who processes your information for us
| Service | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and private photo storage | United States (Oregon) |
| Vercel | Runs the Houselift app and this website | United States |
| Anthropic | Reads the photos you choose to have read | United States |
| Backblaze | Stores our encrypted backups (we hold the only key) | United States |
| ImprovMX and Google (Gmail) | Deliver email you send to our support address | United States |
They process information only to provide their service to us. If you use Houselift through the App Store, Apple also processes information under its own policies.
Who can see your information
- The people you share with in Houselift, according to their role. Owners and editors can add and change things. View-only members can look things up but don't see amounts on records. Someone given access to a single property sees only that property's items and pros, and no records.
- The people you send something to. When you share an item as an image or text, only what you choose goes out. The property name and notes are left out unless you switch them on; amounts and document photos are never included. Invitation links show a generic preview with nothing personal in it.
- Us, as the operator: we can technically reach stored information through our database tools. We look at it only when you ask for help, to keep the service running and secure, or when the law requires.
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for advertising.
Other people's details you save
If you save someone as a pro (for example, your plumber's phone number), that entry belongs to your household's list. If that person has their own Houselift account and deletes it, entries other households saved about them stay in those households' lists until those households remove them.
How long we keep it
- Your information is kept while your account exists.
- When you delete your account (Account → Delete my account), your account, your name, any household only you use with everything in it, and your photos that no one else's household uses are deleted at once. Things you added to a household you shared stay for the others there, shown without your name. Invitations sent to your email are deleted too.
- Backups: we keep encrypted backups so we can recover from mistakes or failures. Deleted information leaves all backups within about 3 months. We keep a record that an account was deleted (an internal ID and a scrambled, non-readable form of the email) so a deleted account is never brought back from a backup.
- Invitations that were cancelled, or expired without being used, are deleted automatically 30 days later.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you, then deleted.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct: everything you added is in the app, and you can edit or delete it there.
- Delete: Account → Delete my account, or email us.
- Get a copy: email us and we'll send your information and photos.
- Photo reading: you can add everything by hand instead. To withdraw your earlier agreement, email us.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your information; email us and we'll help.
Security
Houselift uses encrypted connections, private photo storage that checks who's asking every time, access rules per household and property, and encrypted off-site backups. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever learn of a breach affecting your information, we'll tell you.
Children
Houselift is meant for adults managing a home. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
